Our Values

01.

WE Dream Big.

A more abundant, more balanced way of being is within our reach. We push ourselves in ways that matter. Together, we’ll achieve net zero and more.

02.

we pursue progress over perfection.

The most sustainable action is the one you’ll actually take. We turn talk into action.

03.

we tell it like it is.

No shaming. No panic-inducing headlines. No now-or-nevers. Just helpful, rigorous, honest, guidance to make impactful choices. Always grounded in data.

04.

We gain power from each other.

None of us can do this alone. All of us can do it together. We change the world by changing ourselves and each other.

05.

We live lighter.

We are hopeful. Commons emphasizes then levers for impact within our control and provides paths to learn about the things we can't change yet. We celebrate the wins.

From Our Founder

A Journey to a Lighter way of living

We have less than 10 years to cut global emissions in half. More of us than ever before are deeply concerned about the climate crisis and want to take action to make a difference.

For me, the climate crisis became real when I worked in international development in Ethiopia and India and saw first-hand its devastating effects first-hand, especially for poor and vulnerable populations. Since moving back home to the US, I’ve seen changing climates disrupt lives on this side of the world, too.

I started tracking my carbon footprint in an excel spreadsheet because I couldn’t find any good tools to help me align my life with the world I wanted to live in. As I built my intuition for the choices that mattered most, I cut my footprint by over 30%.

With Commons, building a more sustainable life is as accessible as building a fitness routine or a mindfulness practice.

The climate crisis was caused by humans. We’ll reverse it, too.
